The demand for better air through the radiator core performance has never been stronger, especially with the increasing demand for better emissions and fuel economy. High static pressure results when a large cooling air mass is forced through a single or multi-stacked radiator core. As the cooling air is restricted by the density of the radiator core, a pressure differential is created and the cooling fan must work harder to overcome it. High static pressures can also occur when a radiator core has tightly packed fins over a small area.
These cooling fans has a Delphi/Packard connector 15300002 (280 Series) with the power wire (red) in cavity A & the black wire (ground) in cavity B.
A good example of a high static pressure scenario is a turbo-charged diesel tractor. High cooling airflow rates are required to cool not only the radiator, but also the charge air cooler, A/C condenser and oil coolers. With such demand, static pressure levels can skyrocket, especially when the vehicle is under a heavy load.
What's critical to understand is that Spal cooling fans hold their airflow rating in very high static pressure, Zero static, or 'free air readings have little value, so don't be fooled by huge CFM claims. Like all SPAL fans, the AP76 model fans feature rigid, glass-filled nylon blades dynamically balanced internally and externally to minimize vibration. The cooling fans motors are sealed and individually balanced, and the entire cooling fans assembly is high heat resistant, meaning the cooling fans can be expected to outlive the vehicle in which it is installed.
